Wedding Card Matter in English for Hindu Weddings: 15+ Full Samples

25 October 2026 · 9 min read

Hindu wedding card matter in English follows the same order as a Hindi card: an invocation, the hosts, the request line, the couple with their parents, the programme and a closing line. Below is that structure explained, followed by 15+ complete English samples you can adapt by changing names, dates and venues.

The structure of a Hindu wedding card

  1. Invocation: a line such as Shree Ganeshaya Namah, Om, or a short prayer for blessings at the very top.
  2. Hosts: the parents or grandparents who are inviting, often with the phrase request the pleasure of your company or solicit your gracious presence.
  3. Occasion line: the marriage of their daughter or son, sometimes with a word like auspicious.
  4. Couple: the bride's and groom's names, each with their parents' names and city.
  5. Programme: every function with date, time and venue, such as tilak, haldi, mehndi, baraat, pheras and reception.
  6. Closing: with best compliments from, awaiting your presence, or a line from the younger members of the family.

English cards often use Chi. before the groom's name and Sau. Kan. before the bride's, just like Hindi cards. Some families write them in full, others drop them for a modern look. Either is correct; just stay consistent across the card.

Tips before you finalise the matter

  • Check spellings of every name with the person themselves. Elders notice a wrong spelling first.
  • Write the day along with the date, for example Sunday, 14 February, to avoid confusion.
  • Use the same format for all times, such as 7 pm or 7:00 pm, throughout the card.
  • Keep the closing list short. Long lists of names are better in the digital card than on the printed one.
  • If you print cards, add a QR code that opens the digital invitation with map and RSVP.

In a NimantranKaro card you can switch the same invitation between Hindi, Hinglish and English, so relatives who prefer Hindi and friends who prefer English both get a card they are comfortable reading. You can see a free watermarked preview for 3 days before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Hindu wedding card be written fully in English?+

Yes. Many families write the full matter in English and keep only the invocation, such as Shree Ganeshaya Namah, in its traditional form. The order of sections stays the same as a Hindi card.

What do Chi. and Sau. Kan. mean on a wedding card?+

Chi. is short for Chiranjeevi, a blessing for long life used before the groom's name. Sau. Kan. is short for Saubhagyakankshini, used before the bride's name to wish her good fortune.

Who should be named as the host on the card?+

Usually the parents. If grandparents are the head of the family, many families invite in their name and mention the parents in brackets.

Should I write all functions on one card?+

On a printed card, list the main ones. A digital invitation can hold every function with its own time, venue and map, so guests see only what they need.

What is a good English line for the closing?+

With best compliments from, followed by close relatives' names, is the most common. Awaiting your gracious presence also works well and sounds warm.
